Module #2 - Gut
Hippocrates said, “all disease begins in the gut”. The gut is also known as our enteric nervous system (or “second brain”) so balancing the gut can help improve autistic symptoms. In this module you will learn of 3 common sources of gut disruption in children on the spectrum. We will review sources of dysbiotic, inflammatory, and toxic stress that can disrupt the gut and lead to disease. We will discuss therapeutic tools for rebalancing the gut, such as the low FODMAP diet, probiotics, digestive enzymes and more. We will also discuss common ways to identify gut pathology, both through symptoms your child might be experiencing and laboratory findings.
